The former governorship candidate of the National Conscience Party in Ogun State, Ogbeni Lanre Banjo, during his visit to the troubled town of Ijebu Ife, to assess the level of destruction, where he warned politicians not to politicise the unfortunate incident because of their selfish interest.
Accompanied by his wife, the Ogbeni Banjo commiserated with some of the residents left in the town, as well as the police over the loss of their beloved ones in the clash, which also consumed numerous houses.
“I have seen the destruction,” he said. “It is despicable. I denounce the killing of the Assistant Commissioner of Police and other victims. But I want to call on the state government to compensate the victims. The level of destruction is alarming.”
